Agenda:

Changes in the natural gas industry are coming down the pipeline.  Many businesses are committing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions including natural gas utilities.  From the well head to the burner tip, greener alternatives to geologically produced natural gas are being introduced into gas distribution systems.  This webinar will discuss what these alternatives are, the regulatory issues surrounding these alternatives, and how they may impact consumers.

Speaker Biographies:

Stephen Soule - Stephen is a proven leader in the energy industry with over 28 years of experience in the space. His experience began with 17 years with commercial and financial commodity trading firms in New York City.  He then spent 10 years at WGL in Utility Asset Optimization, Midstream Business Development, and Strategy & Corporate Development roles.  Part of his Corporate Development responsibilities included the development of Virtual Pipeline, Renewable Natural Gas & other carbon abatement approaches and ESG platforms.  He joined the REV LNG team at the beginning of this year as a growth officer on both the LNG and RNG sides of the business.  Stephen has a broad knowledge in the North American physical and financial energy markets across an array of products including natural gas, electricity, renewables and other carbon abatement products. Stephen has proven strategy, business development, corporate development, operations and revenue producing expertise in the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors.

Richard Hyde - Richard works as the Executive Director of One Future.  He has primary responsibility for the day to day operations for the group. Most recently he served as the Director of External Affairs for Southern Company Gas, responsible for the legislative and regulatory functions for the Commercial Businesses which include Fuels and Storage, Pipeline Investments and Energy Marketing.

Richard has been in the natural gas industry for over 30 years, working for Panhandle Eastern and Trunkline Gas, Duke Energy, AGL Resources and Southern Company Gas. Richard has worked primarily in the state legislative arena, except for a brief stint in D.C. with Duke Energy as their primary pipeline representative.

 

Mark Kahrer - Mark G. Kahrer serves as Senior Vice President-Regulatory Affairs, Marketing and Energy Efficiency at New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), where he oversees all aspects of the company’s regulatory affairs, gas supply, environmental services, marketing and energy efficiency functions.

 

Mr. Kahrer joined NJNG in 2017 as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and was promoted to his current role in 2020. Prior to joining NJNG, he spent 34 years with Newark, NJ-based Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) and its parent, Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG). Throughout his tenure with PSEG, he served in numerous capacities, including Vice President of Finance for PSE&G and PSEG Power, Assistant Treasurer and Senior Director – Business Performance and Improvement for PSE&G and PSEG Long Island.  Mr. Kahrer was instrumental in starting up PSEG’s corporate risk management function, lean six sigma efforts and was instrumental in the development of the performance metric program at PSEG Long Island. 

 

Mr. Kahrer received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Saint Peter’s College and a Master of Business Administration in finance from Seton Hall University. He is a certified public accountant, and a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.  He is the current First Vice Chairman of the New Jersey Utilities Association Board of Directors and a member of the Advisory Committees of the New Jersey Utility Stockholders Association and New Jersey Energy Coalition.  Mr. Kahrer was also a former member of the executive committee of the Board of Trustees of Saint Peter’s University where he also served as the former Chairman of the Board of Regents and former President of the Alumni Association.
